One of the best known Indonesian coffees, Sumatra Mandheling from Gold Star lives up to its reputation. Bold but well-balanced, with a full body and slightly earthy aroma, it has just enough acidity to add vibrancy. The medium roast retains much of its spicy flavours. A smooth coffee with a complex taste.

I love roasting my own beans, and this is my absolute favorite for a bean with caffeine. This bean roasts up beautifully. It plumps up, grinds well, French Presses perfectly, for the best cup of coffee ever. These beans are worth every penny. I only buy my Jamaican Blue from Gold Star. They have the best varieties at a reasonable price and ship fast. If you love great coffee, you will love this bean. So smooth and delicious!

I have been home roasting my own coffee for the last 8 years, and have been drinking craft roasted and brewed coffee for about 20 years. I have tried a lot of coffees in my time. Some years back I tried Kona. I had been told it was the best coffee, and I got it for abbout $9. 00/lb. That was a very low price for pure Kona. But when I brewed it, it was not that impressive. I couldn’t understand what all the hype was about with Kona. That describes how I felt about this Jamaica Blue Mountain Peaberry. I purchased 10 lb of green beans for $170–an unheard of low price of $17/lb. Other small lot sellers are asking $35/lb. The Kona I bought some years back turned out to be a blend—even though the seller had promoted it as pure Kona. I have since purchased Kona beans direct from a farm in Hawaii, and these beans make the best coffee I’ve ever had. I had this same hope—to be dazzled by the JBM. But it was just ok, but the taste was not spectacular as it would seem it should be given all the hype. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe tastes much better at 1/3 the price of the JBM beans I bought. I really don’t understand the hype, if these beans were indeed genuine 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain. The taste was average at best. I would love to see the cupping score for these beans at city roast.

Bright and medium-bodied, this coffee has floral tones and good aftertaste. The roast level is optimum and brings out its characteristics. Excellent for espresso and equally good when made as an Americano. The fact that it is certified organic, shade grown and fair trade is a bonus. Very enjoyable!

This is excellent coffee. It's the best I have tasted among many decaffeinated coffees. It retains the taste profile of caffeinated Hawaiian Kona, thanks to the Swiss Water process. I love the sweetness balanced by the bright acidity, giving it a clean finish. In my opinion, it's on a par with Gold Star's Nightwish - 1/2 Caff, another exceptional Hawaiian Kona coffee.
